Synced ("we", "our", or "us") is a music synchronization app that listens to ambient audio to identify the song playing nearby, then syncs your Apple Music playback to the exact position in that song. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is handled.
Ambient audio. When you tap the sync button, the app records approximately 8 seconds of audio through your device microphone. This audio clip is sent to our Cloudflare Worker (a server-side proxy) and forwarded to ACRCloud's music recognition service to identify the song. The audio clip is not stored on our servers and is not retained by ACRCloud beyond the duration of the recognition request.
Feedback data. If you respond to the optional "Was this the right song?" or "How was the timing?" prompts after a sync, your responses are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly tap "Export Feedback," at which point you control where it is shared.
Crash reports. We use Sentry to automatically collect crash reports and error logs. These may include device type, iOS version, and a stack trace describing what the app was doing when it crashed. No personally identifiable information is included.
Usage analytics. We use PostHog to collect anonymized usage events (e.g., "sync started", "sync completed", "onboarding finished"). These events help us understand how the app is used and improve it over time. No personally identifiable information is attached to these events.
Apple Music. The app requests access to Apple Music solely to play and seek to the identified song. We do not read your library, listening history, or any other Apple Music data.

Feedback data is stored locally on your device and is only removed when you uninstall the app or clear it manually. Crash and analytics data is retained by Sentry and PostHog according to their respective policies.
Synced is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
